The Donaldson Run Passive House was completed in early 2015 and is Metro Green’s fifth collaboration with Kaplan Thompson Architects (a nationally recognized energy smart architecture firm). The home received the EPA’s Energy Star and Advanced Indoor Air certifications and was designated as a DEO Zero Energy Ready home. It also achieved PHIUS certification in early 2016, one of the most rigorous energy standards in the world.
The Passive House Institute US (PHIUS)’s stricter building standards promote extra thick insulation, triple glaze windows, and special attention to air tightness. The result: a house that uses less energy to heat and cool, stays comfortable with consistent temperatures and fresh clean air, and remains durable, requiring less maintenance in the long term.
